Lost In Transmission

Lost in Transmission is a photography series that explores the psychological effects of digital consumption and the loss of personal identity in the age of technology. Inspired by my own reliance on digital devices and the overwhelming nature of social media, this series transforms the abstract feeling of being trapped in the digital world into a tangible, visual narrative.

Using old computer screens and tangled cables from a lab, I staged compositions where the model, representing my mental state, is physically entangled in technology. The lighting, body language, and composition convey emotions of depression, frustration, and disconnection. In the final images, a red 404 error page symbolizes a complete loss of connection to reality, with cables turning into sharp, weapon-like objects, illustrating the potential harm of excessive digital dependence.

Through this project, I invite viewers to reflect on their own relationship with technology and question how digital culture shapes their identity and sense of self. By visualizing the entrapment and emotional toll of endless digital scrolling, Lost in Transmission challenges the balance between technological convenience and its hidden psychological costs.
